Mario Kart Wii is the best racing game ever! The second I picked up the Wii wheel (it comes with the game). I felt right at home. It is so intuitive that after about 1/2 minute of driving I was racing effortlessly. The best addition to the Mario Kart series is doing tricks when ever there is a bump or ramp. Just flick the Wii remote up on a bump or ramp and you’ll do a 360, a flip, or other trick and when you land you’ll get a speed boost. The additions of motorcycles is great. They handle like 10X better than karts plus they can do wheelies, which also makes the game more fun. What I’m really looking forward to, is some of my friends and cousins getting the game so we can race through the wi-fi connection. I think I’ll do a separate review on just that experience. I decided against getting the Prima guide this time, because like I said before, I really want to get my money’s worth and have the game last longer, not to mention, it’s not as necessary with a racing game as it would be with an adventure or platform game.
One last note, spring another $15-20 dollars and get another wheel. It’s more fun when you’re playing with a friend. You’ll have the same experience, and you won’t have to share!

Rating 10 stars **********

(I promise not to give every wiiview a 10, but come on, it’s Mario, it’s the Wii, it’s the LONG AWAITED MARIO KART!!!)

Note: For my wiiviews, I will use a 10 star rating chart, 10 being the best.

Tying for first place for my favorite game of all time, Super Mario Galaxy (my other favorite being Super Mario Sunshine). Mario Galaxy has everything I like in a game. Its a 3-D platformer game where you fly through the stars as that plumber with the red hat. What’s wrong with that? NOTHING!!! Like all good games, there are so many levels you can enjoy good play. Like for younger players, you only have to get 1/2 of the stars to ‘win’ the game. You hardly ever have timers and can also just play around forever as Mario. I remember playing Mario Sunshine when I was younger and it really makes a game more fun when you feel like you’ve actually accomplished something. For older kids, you can get totally obsessed collecting every star, win every boss stage and go through every level, combing each level for all the star bits. You can even have a friend join in helping you collect star bits, shoot enemies, freeze enemies, and help Mario jump higher. Mario has a bunch of new costumes like Bee Mario, Ice Mario, Spring Mario and Boo Mario as well as the classic Fire Mario. I would have loved to have seen FLUDD make an appearance, oh well, maybe next time (he does appear in Super Smash Brothers Brawl). One of the best parts of the game (spoiler alert) is when the game is finished, it’s really only 1/2 over. You get to play the whole game over again as Luigi, who has his own quirks like he can run faster, jump higher, but has a hard time stopping. It’s hard to pick a favorite level because they are all amazing. The graphics are amazing too. When Mario is flying through the stars and volcano’s are exploding behind him, it’s just amazing (of course our 50 inch Plasma probably helps ha-ha). The Prima Game Guide is really helpful and awesome when you’re going for every star. Warning, do not read the whole Prima manual before you play the game, just use it when you need it. When I was younger it was great, but this time around it made it too easy and when you pay $50 for a game, you want it to last a long time. If you have the Wii and not Galaxy, I would recommend you go and get it as soon as you can.

My rating 10 stars **********

I’ve been a Nintendo freak since I was four when my parents got me my first Gameboy. My obsession with Mario soon followed. I’m a serious collector of all things Nintendo and feel that I am as qualified as any of those old guys at Nintendo Power are to review games. I have a Gameboy Advance SP, DS, DS lite, Gamecube and a Wii (purchased on release date, duh). I also have a PS2, it’s fine, but it’s no Nintendo!!! I have and will always (money allowing) get each and every Mario game the day it comes out. I’m also Lego obsessed (which makes me love the Lego Starwars series and I’m counting down the days until Indiana Jones and Batman). I’m super obsessed with Animal Crossing (collectibles too) and pretty much anything Wii. I will be wiiviewing all my wii games (I have 20 already!) as well as games as they come out and games I’ll rent. So in-between school, friends, family and legos … I will be updating with wiiviews as often as I can.
